About Me
Dr. Kate Smith is a shamanic practitioner and sacred artist at Journeysmith Shamanic Arts in Montclair, NJ.
I grew up on a tree farm in NJ. Roaming the wild forests and watching seedlings grow, I always felt a deep, abiding connection to nature and the spirits of the earth. Looking back, it was surely a deep shamanic resonance. Without a clear way to delve further into this sacred world, I took my love of nature in the direction of science. Not one to do things by halves, I earned a PhD in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and eventually found myself quite far from where I started as I climbed the corporate ladder in the pharmaceutical industry. It took a health issue that responded only to shamanic intervention in 2006 to start the path back to my more intuitive and spiritual side, my shamanic ‘roots’ in working with the spirits of the earth. In 2010, I stepped away from my successful career in biochemical research to rebuild my life around the ideals that are most important to me. I now help others navigate their life journey by offering individual shamanic energy medicine, teaching workshops for empowerment, and creating beautiful, finely-crafted shamanic tools. |
Philosophy |
I believe that the answers you seek are already inside you. It's my job as a shamanic practitioner to help you realize your own Truth, Authenticity and Passion --- I can’t tell anyone what those things are for them! Your transformation is driven by your own motivation, curiosity and courage. It's my job to ask the tough questions, hold sacred space for you to dance safely at the edge of your comfort zone, and challenge you to stick with the difficult stuff. Ultimately, your own Life is the best teacher because it shows precisely what needs to be healed next. My job is to walk with you down that the next step in your healing path, reminding you of the wonders and miracles the lie within you already.
